Pisces rising gives a soft manner and a changeable face; people with the sign are often told they look different in every photograph. The boundary between self and other is thin, which makes the Pisces Ascendant an empath, a listener and an artist, and also the person who comes home from a party exhausted by feelings that were not theirs. Jupiter rules the sign traditionally, Neptune in the modern scheme, and both point to a longing for something larger than the everyday.

The sign is associated with the feet, with sleep and with escape in all its forms: music, film, prayer, and the less helpful ones. The shadow is evasion — of confrontation, of decision, of the practical — and a tendency to be carried by whatever current is strongest.
