A warm, visible, self-possessed way of meeting the world: you are noticed whether you intend it or not, and you are happiest when what you give is received with some generosity in return.

What Leo rising is like

Leo rising carries itself. There is a presence to the sign — the walk, the hair, the way the person occupies the doorway — that has nothing to do with volume and everything to do with a settled sense of being at the centre of their own life. The Sun rules Leo, and a Leo Ascendant tends to bring light into a room: warmth, humour, a willingness to be the one who speaks first. Pride is real, and so is loyalty.

The sign wants to be seen, and the difference between healthy Leo rising and its shadow is whether the seeing is a gift or a demand. At its best the Leo Ascendant is generous, encouraging and brave on behalf of others; at its worst it takes criticism as insult and sulks with theatrical thoroughness. Creative expression of some kind is not optional for the sign; without an outlet the fire turns inward.

Aquarius sits on the Descendant, so partners tend to be independent, a little detached, and unimpressed by performance; the relationship asks the Leo Ascendant to share the stage and to value being liked over being admired. The chart matures when the warmth is unconditional.
