Venus in aspect to Pallas
Venus judges what is beautiful and Pallas sees how it is made. Together they give design sense in the full meaning of the phrase: not merely taste, but an understanding of the structure that produces it. In relationships the same faculty appears as an ability to see the pattern two people are running, which is useful and occasionally unromantic. Being seen that clearly is not what most partners are hoping for, and the accuracy has to be rationed rather than merely softened. What is offered as help is frequently received as assessment, and the distinction is the partner's to make rather than theirs.

The soft aspects (trine or sextile)
A trine or a sextile makes taste and craft agree. The person makes things that are both good-looking and well built, and mediates between others with real fairness. Their judgement about an arrangement is usually accepted because it is evidently not self-interested. People bring them disputes precisely because the verdict will not be shaped by what suits them.
The hard aspects (square or opposition)
Square or opposition, analysis undercuts pleasure. Relationships are strategised rather than lived, or a design instinct is overruled by an argument the person cannot answer. Choosing on liking alone, once, and letting the result stand is the corrective — the point is not that liking is a better guide but that it is a guide the person has never allowed to operate unsupervised.
The conjunction
Conjunct, beauty is a solved problem. Such people are excellent at arrangement of every kind — objects, rooms, negotiations — and inclined to fix a partnership that only wanted attention. The improvement offered is generally correct and rarely what was being asked for. Asking whether a solution is wanted, before supplying one, resolves most of the friction this causes.
Reading it in a chart
The orb settles how strongly this shows: a contact within a degree is a defining feature of a chart, one at the edge of the orb is a colouring. The signs the two planets occupy change the manner, the houses change the arena, and a third planet touching either of them can change the reading entirely.
