Venus in aspect to North Node
Venus draws things close and the North Node points at what has not been tried. Together they make relationship and taste into the developmental arena: the person is moved forward by what they are attracted to, and the attractions are rarely arbitrary. Money and value follow the same rule, and learning what something is actually worth is part of the work. The attractions do not have to be acted on to do their job, but they do have to be taken seriously as information rather than dismissed as impulse.

The soft aspects (trine or sextile)
A trine or a sextile makes the useful people pleasant to be around, which is a rare arrangement. Alliances form easily and tend to advance both parties. Artistic development also comes readily, often through a particular person rather than through study — a teacher, a collaborator, someone whose taste rearranges the person's own, and who is generally met by accident rather than sought.
The hard aspects (square or opposition)
Square or opposition, what is wanted and what would grow the person are different things. The attractive option is the familiar one; the nourishing one is awkward at first. Nothing is solved by renouncing pleasure — only by widening what counts as pleasant, which happens through exposure rather than resolve. The taste does eventually change, and the person is usually surprised by how completely.
The conjunction
Conjunct, love is the curriculum. Partnerships and close friendships arrive with a distinctly fated quality and change the direction of the life when they do, which is exhilarating and leaves the person somewhat at the mercy of who turns up. The development is real and it is not self-directed, and people with this contact tend to describe their biography as a list of names rather than of decisions.
Reading it in a chart
The orb settles how strongly this shows: a contact within a degree is a defining feature of a chart, one at the edge of the orb is a colouring. The signs the two planets occupy change the manner, the houses change the arena, and a third planet touching either of them can change the reading entirely.
