Jupiter enlarges and Venus enjoys, so their contact is the chart's most straightforwardly pleasant. Generosity is instinctive, social life is warm and wide, and there is a genuine talent for making other people feel welcome. Taste runs to the ample rather than the austere. Money and affection both tend to arrive, and both tend to be spent freely. Art, hospitality, teaching and any work involving good company suit the pairing. The cost is in the same direction as the gift: indulgence, a dislike of anything strenuous, and a habit of assuming the pleasant reading of a situation.

The soft aspects (trine or sextile)
A trine or a sextile gives easy good fortune in the ordinary domestic sense: friendships that last, help that arrives, a life with some comfort in it. Charm is unforced and rarely resented. Creative and social gifts develop without much struggle. That ease is the whole caution, since nothing in the configuration ever requires the person to become disciplined about anything they love.
The hard aspects (square or opposition)
The square and the opposition keep the warmth and mislay the measure. Spending outruns income, affection is offered more freely than it can be sustained, and the appetite for pleasure occasionally makes decisions the rest of the chart has to fund. Nothing here is grave. Proportion is learned by exceeding it, and these charts usually end up generous and solvent, in that order.

Aesthetic sense is large rather than fine, and comfort is a real value rather than an indulgence to be excused. The standing risk is complacency: a placement that makes life this agreeable rarely supplies the pressure that turns talent into an actual body of work.

The orb settles how strongly this shows: a contact within a degree is a defining feature of a chart, one at the edge of the orb is a colouring. The signs the two planets occupy change the manner, the houses change the arena, and a third planet touching either of them can change the reading entirely.
