Venus and Juno · attraction and commitment
Venus in aspect to Juno
Venus is what draws a person and Juno is what they need it to become. When the two agree, desire and durability point at the same person, which is the arrangement everybody hopes for and not everybody has. When they do not, the pairing describes the long-running problem of being attracted to people one could not actually live with. The problem is not solved by lowering the standard for attraction or by raising it for suitability; it is solved by finding out which of the two has been doing the choosing.
What each body brings
| Venus | love, value, pleasure |
|---|---|
| Juno | commitment and its terms |
The soft aspects (trine or sextile)
A trine or a sextile makes love and commitment continuous. The person is drawn to what will last, and finds the ordinary business of partnership genuinely pleasant rather than a tax on romance, which is the whole difference between a marriage that holds and one that is endured. Ordinary weekday life is where these relationships actually live, and it suits both parties.
The hard aspects (square or opposition)
Square or opposition, the wanting and the arrangement diverge. The exciting option will not commit and the committed one is not exciting, and the pattern repeats until it is looked at directly rather than blamed on supply. Supply is rarely the issue; the two criteria have simply never been applied to the same person at the same time.
The conjunction
Conjunct, to love is to belong to somebody. It is a warm and rather traditional placement, strong for a marriage and inclined to attach early and completely. The attachment is offered before the other person has been fully assessed, which works out more often than it deserves to. Where the early judgement is poor, this configuration takes a long time to admit it.
Reading it in a chart
The orb settles how strongly this shows: a contact within a degree is a defining feature of a chart, one at the edge of the orb is a colouring. The signs the two planets occupy change the manner, the houses change the arena, and a third planet touching either of them can change the reading entirely.
