Venus in aspect to Ceres
Venus is what is loved and Ceres is what is provided; the two overlap so naturally that the person may not distinguish them. Love is expressed materially — meals, comfort, practical arrangements — and is measured the same way. It makes a warm and hospitable nature, and a quiet expectation that being looked after is what affection consists of. A partner who expresses love differently can be present, devoted and entirely unrecognised, which is a common and avoidable unhappiness under this contact. Saying plainly what would register as love is the conversation that prevents it.

The soft aspects (trine or sextile)
A trine or a sextile makes generosity attractive rather than obligating. The person gives easily and is easy to give to, and the household tends to be the one everyone else gravitates toward. Nothing about the hospitality is transactional, which is precisely why it draws people. People arrive knowing they will be fed and stay because nothing is being asked of them in return.
The hard aspects (square or opposition)
Square or opposition, giving becomes the price of being loved. Provision is offered until it is expected, and resentment collects underneath the warmth. Asking for something outright, without earning it first, is what corrects the balance — and the difficulty is not pride but a genuine uncertainty about whether the request would be granted if nothing had been paid in advance.
The conjunction
Conjunct, to love is to feed. It is a genuinely lovely combination and a slightly indiscriminate one, since the caring is offered before it is established that the recipient will do anything with it. The person is rarely taken advantage of deliberately; they simply arrive with the provision before anyone has had to demonstrate that they deserve it.
Reading it in a chart
The orb settles how strongly this shows: a contact within a degree is a defining feature of a chart, one at the edge of the orb is a colouring. The signs the two planets occupy change the manner, the houses change the arena, and a third planet touching either of them can change the reading entirely.
