Sun in aspect to Uranus

Uranus is deviation from the norm: sudden change, invention, and the refusal to be defined by a group. Against the Sun it makes individuality itself the project. These charts differ from their families in some visible way, gravitate toward work that has not been standardised, and dislike being told what they are. Life tends to move in jumps rather than gradients, with reversals that look reckless from outside and obvious from within. Nervous energy runs high. The gift is genuine originality; the cost is a certain restlessness that can dismantle arrangements that were merely comfortable rather than actually wrong.

The soft aspects (trine or sextile)

With a trine or a sextile the unconventional streak integrates well. Innovation is offered rather than imposed, and the person can be different without making it a fight. Technology, science and reform-minded work suit the combination. Friendships are wide and loosely held. Because freedom is rarely threatened here, the independence can go untested and stay more a preference than a principle.

The hard aspects (square or opposition)

The square and the opposition make autonomy contentious. Authority provokes an immediate reaction, plans get overturned in the name of freedom, and change sometimes arrives from outside before it can be chosen. The development on offer is discrimination: learning which constraints are worth breaking and which were simply inconvenient. These charts often settle into something genuinely original once the reflex has been outgrown.

The conjunction

Conjunct, the self and the deviation are the same thing. There is little interest in fitting in and considerable talent for seeing what everyone else has assumed. Timing runs ahead of the surrounding culture, which reads as prescient later and as awkward at the time. Stability has to be constructed deliberately, since nothing in the temperament supplies it, and a small amount of routine goes a long way.

Reading it in a chart

The orb settles how strongly this shows: a contact within a degree is a defining feature of a chart, one at the edge of the orb is a colouring. The signs the two planets occupy change the manner, the houses change the arena, and a third planet touching either of them can change the reading entirely.
