Sun and South Node · identity built from the familiar
Sun in aspect to South Node
The South Node is what a person already does well enough to hide in, and the Sun is who they are being asked to become. In contact, the established self is unusually well developed and unusually hard to leave. Talent shows early and is praised, which fixes it in place. The work of the life is not to discard any of it but to stop treating it as the whole answer. The praise is the difficulty rather than the gift: a thing rewarded at fifteen is very hard to set down at forty, and everybody who knows the person will argue against it.

The soft aspects (trine or sextile)
Trine or sextile, the inheritance is genuinely useful. Old competence supports new ground instead of blocking it, and the person carries their history lightly. What can happen is a career spent doing the early thing beautifully and never finding out what else was there, which nobody will ever describe as a failure and which the person may privately recognise as one.
The hard aspects (square or opposition)
Square or opposition, the past keeps claiming the present. Recognition arrives for work the person has stopped believing in, and each round makes the exit more expensive. Doing something badly in public, on purpose, is often the cheapest way out — it breaks the association between the person and the thing, and it costs a fraction of what a decade of quiet dissatisfaction does.
The conjunction
Conjunct, the identity sits squarely on what is already known. There is real mastery and a persistent sense of repetition, and a lunar eclipse near the birth is likely. The gift is fluency; the cost is that fluency is rarely questioned, since it produces good results continuously and gives no one, least of all its owner, any occasion to ask what else might be possible.
Reading it in a chart
The orb settles how strongly this shows: a contact within a degree is a defining feature of a chart, one at the edge of the orb is a colouring. The signs the two planets occupy change the manner, the houses change the arena, and a third planet touching either of them can change the reading entirely.
