Sun in aspect to Neptune
Neptune dissolves outlines. It rules imagination, compassion, longing and the wish to be part of something larger, along with the confusion that follows when the wish gets confused with the fact. Touching the Sun, it softens the sense of a fixed self. Artistic and spiritual sensitivity is high, the atmosphere of a room is absorbed without effort, and identity is more fluid than most people's. Vitality can be delicate and responds to rest, water and beauty. The recurring difficulty is definition: knowing what one actually wants, separately from what was hoped for or what someone else projected.

The soft aspects (trine or sextile)
A trine or a sextile lends imagination that cooperates with ordinary life. Music, film, poetry, care work and anything requiring atmosphere come easily, and empathy operates without draining the person. Faith of some kind is usually present and quietly held. Because the gift is easy, it can be left as a pleasant background quality rather than developed into actual craft.
The hard aspects (square or opposition)
Square or opposed, the boundary question becomes practical. Idealisation of others, uncertainty about one's own direction, and periods of drift are typical, as is being seen as something one is not. None of this is permanent. The contact rewards form: a discipline, a schedule, a medium with rules. Charts that supply that structure tend to produce the pair's imaginative gifts in a usable state.
The conjunction
Conjunct, the self is porous and unusually receptive. Other people project onto it readily, and the person can find their own outline hard to locate without regular solitude. Creative and spiritual capacity is considerable when it has somewhere to go. The practical cautions are ordinary ones: clear agreements, sober record-keeping, and care with substances, which act more strongly here than the dose suggests.
Reading it in a chart
The orb settles how strongly this shows: a contact within a degree is a defining feature of a chart, one at the edge of the orb is a colouring. The signs the two planets occupy change the manner, the houses change the arena, and a third planet touching either of them can change the reading entirely.
