Pluto in aspect to Vesta
Pluto is total and Vesta is undivided; between them there is very little room for anything else. The devotion is absolute, frequently secret, and capable of reorganising an entire life around itself. Where the object is worth it, the results are extraordinary. Where it is not, the same intensity is spent with the same completeness, and nobody close to the person is able to tell the two cases apart from outside. Nobody close to them can influence it once it has started, which is worth knowing in advance. Warnings issued during it are heard as obstruction rather than as concern.

The soft aspects (trine or sextile)
Trine or sextile, that intensity is aimed rather than loose, and survivable. The person commits deeply and retains judgement about what deserves it, which is the faculty this pairing most often lacks. That judgement is exercised before the commitment rather than during it, since during it there is no judgement available at all. Choosing well in advance is the entire safeguard this configuration has.
The hard aspects (square or opposition)
Square or opposition, the focus becomes compulsion. The work, the person or the practice is pursued past the point of cost, and stopping is experienced as annihilation. Outside perspective, actively sought, is the only reliable brake, and it has to be sought in advance, since in the middle of it no outside perspective will be admitted. Arranging that in advance is the practical version of self-knowledge here.
The conjunction
Conjunct, dedication is total and non-negotiable. Such people are unstoppable within their subject and largely unreachable outside it, and they are aware of the trade. They made it deliberately and would make it again. Those close to them generally decide early whether they can live alongside it, and the ones who stay stop expecting it to moderate.
Reading it in a chart
The orb settles how strongly this shows: a contact within a degree is a defining feature of a chart, one at the edge of the orb is a colouring. The signs the two planets occupy change the manner, the houses change the arena, and a third planet touching either of them can change the reading entirely.
