Pluto and Pallas · seeing what is hidden
Pluto in aspect to Pallas
Pluto concerns what is concealed and Pallas works out the shape of things; together they see the power structure under the stated arrangement. Who actually decides, what the real currency is, where the leverage sits. It is an investigator's contact, and it is very difficult to lie to. The corresponding risk is reading strategy into everything, including affection, and the readings are delivered with enough confidence that other people frequently accept them about themselves. A reading offered with that much conviction is very hard for the subject to dispute.
What each body brings
| Pluto | power, depth, regeneration |
|---|---|
| Pallas | pattern recognition and strategy |
The soft aspects (trine or sextile)
With a trine or a sextile the perception is used well. Research, forensics, diagnosis and negotiation all suit it, and the person can hold what they see without needing to act on it immediately, which is what makes them safe to work alongside. Holding an observation without deploying it is the skill this contact most needs and most often has.
The hard aspects (square or opposition)
Square or opposition, insight becomes suspicion. Motives are attributed confidently and wrongly, and the confidence is what makes it damaging. Checking an interpretation out loud with the person concerned is unnervingly effective, and is avoided precisely because it risks the interpretation. Checking is avoided because the interpretation is usually more interesting than the answer. It is also the only reliable way of finding out, which is the awkward part.
The conjunction
Conjunct, strategy and power are the same study. Such people are formidable in any contested situation and have to work at believing that some situations are not contested. Ordinary friendliness is read for motive long after it has stopped being necessary. Assuming good faith deliberately, as an experiment, is worth running more than once.
Reading it in a chart
The orb settles how strongly this shows: a contact within a degree is a defining feature of a chart, one at the edge of the orb is a colouring. The signs the two planets occupy change the manner, the houses change the arena, and a third planet touching either of them can change the reading entirely.
