North Node in aspect to Pallas
The North Node points forward and Pallas says the route is through skill: learning a discipline properly, becoming good at something with a structure to it. Development is not emotional here so much as technical, and the confidence that follows is the kind that comes from actually being able to do the thing. That is the one sort of confidence nobody can talk a person out of, which is why this configuration produces such settled people in the second half of life. Talent matters much less here than the willingness to finish an apprenticeship.

The soft aspects (trine or sextile)
Trine or sextile, the right training arrives and is taken up. Aptitude and opportunity coincide often enough that the person builds steadily without much agonising, and the skill compounds rather than restarting every few years. A skill that compounds for twenty years produces something a series of promising starts never will. Compounding is the mechanism here, and it needs continuity more than it needs talent.
The hard aspects (square or opposition)
Square or opposition, cleverness avoids the discipline. The person understands the field well enough to skip the apprenticeship and never quite acquires the craft. Finishing one difficult thing to a standard is the corrective, and the standard has to be somebody else's, since their own will be adjusted to whatever they produced. An external standard is the whole point, and choosing a demanding one is the decision that matters.
The conjunction
Conjunct, the growth is the skill. Such people are developed by whatever they end up practising, and choosing that practice carefully is worth more than it first appears. A discipline picked casually at twenty will still be shaping them at fifty. Choosing it deliberately, rather than drifting into it, is worth the six months of thought.
Reading it in a chart
The orb settles how strongly this shows: a contact within a degree is a defining feature of a chart, one at the edge of the orb is a colouring. The signs the two planets occupy change the manner, the houses change the arena, and a third planet touching either of them can change the reading entirely.
