North Node and Lilith · growth by refusing
North Node in aspect to Lilith
The North Node points where a person has not been, and Lilith is the part of them that was never allowed. The contact says the development runs through the disowned material: the way forward is the direction that was ruled out. Progress therefore feels transgressive rather than virtuous, which is why it is postponed and why it works. Anyone waiting to feel good about the next step under this configuration will wait indefinitely; the correct feeling is closer to nerve than to peace. Nerve is the correct instrument here, and it improves with use like any other.
What each body brings
| North Node | appetite, growth, direction |
|---|---|
| Lilith | the untamed and the refused |
The soft aspects (trine or sextile)
Trine or sextile, the refusal serves the direction. Saying no opens the road rather than closing it, and the person is respected for the boundary rather than punished for it. Opportunities tend to arrive from precisely the quarters that a more accommodating version of them would never have reached. The accommodating version of this person would have had an easier decade and a smaller life.
The hard aspects (square or opposition)
Square or opposition, the ungovernable part sabotages the growth it is supposed to serve. Doors are opened and then kicked shut. Distinguishing between the refusal that protects and the one that merely proves a point is the whole task, and it usually needs an outside view, since both feel like integrity from within. An outside view is worth arranging before it is needed rather than during a refusal.
The conjunction
Conjunct, growth and defiance are one movement. Such people develop by becoming less acceptable, which is disorienting for everyone who liked the earlier version and is not usually reversible. The direction is unmistakable once it starts and is almost never chosen deliberately in advance. Old friendships take the strain and some of them do not survive it.
Reading it in a chart
The orb settles how strongly this shows: a contact within a degree is a defining feature of a chart, one at the edge of the orb is a colouring. The signs the two planets occupy change the manner, the houses change the arena, and a third planet touching either of them can change the reading entirely.
