North Node in aspect to Ceres
Ceres marks nourishment and the North Node marks unfamiliar ground, so the route runs through care. Development arrives by taking responsibility for somebody's wellbeing — a child, a dependant, a garden, an institution — and discovering a capacity that was not previously in evidence. It is a demanding road and an unusually reliable one, because the obligations do not negotiate: something depends on the person, and the growth happens whether or not they were feeling ready for it. That is the whole reason this route works where an intention to grow would not.

The soft aspects (trine or sextile)
Trine or sextile, opportunities to nurture arrive naturally and the person is ready for them. Growth and generosity reinforce each other without much conflict, and the responsibilities that appear tend to be ones they can actually carry. What arrives tends to be proportionate, which is not true of the harder versions of this contact and is not luck.
The hard aspects (square or opposition)
Square or opposition, the caring role is avoided or over-taken. Either responsibility for anyone else is declined in the name of freedom, or everything is looked after except the person's own direction. The balance is the lesson, and it is genuinely a balance rather than a choice between the two positions. Neither extreme is stable, and most people with this contact spend a decade at one end before finding the middle.
The conjunction
Conjunct, the way forward is through providing. Such people are changed decisively by whoever ends up in their care, and generally did not choose them. The development is delivered by another person's needs, at that person's pace, which is not comfortable and is reliable. Recognising the arrangement while it is happening is possible and unusual.
