Neptune in aspect to North Node
Neptune blurs and the North Node points, which makes the pointing hard to read. Development here is genuinely guided — by images, longing, music, faith or a sense of being drawn — and genuinely difficult to verify. People with this contact usually know the flavour of where they are going long before they can name it, and are prone to following a version of it that does not exist. The guidance is not unreliable so much as unspecific, and treating it as a direction rather than as an instruction is what makes it usable.

The soft aspects (trine or sextile)
Trine or sextile, intuition is a reliable instrument. The person follows a feeling and it turns out to have been information. Creative and contemplative work suits the pairing, and so does anything requiring compassion held over long periods. They tend not to be able to explain how they knew, which costs them credibility in analytical rooms and nothing at all in the work itself.
The hard aspects (square or opposition)
Square or opposition, the vision and the road disagree. Enormous effort goes into an idea of the future that keeps failing to arrive, or the direction is surrendered to somebody else's certainty. Concrete, checkable next steps are the antidote, however small they look beside the vision — and the smallness is the point, since a step that can be verified is the only thing that distinguishes this from wishing.
The conjunction
Conjunct, the growth is toward something that cannot be fully articulated. It produces artists, mystics and the occasional convincing fraud, and the difference between them is usually whether anyone was permitted to ask practical questions. The person is rarely dishonest; they are simply working from material that does not survive translation, and they need someone nearby who will keep asking anyway.
Reading it in a chart
The orb settles how strongly this shows: a contact within a degree is a defining feature of a chart, one at the edge of the orb is a colouring. The signs the two planets occupy change the manner, the houses change the arena, and a third planet touching either of them can change the reading entirely.
