Moon in aspect to Vesta
The Moon needs and Vesta keeps apart. The pairing describes someone whose emotional restoration requires being alone — not from misanthropy, but because company is genuinely expensive. There is often a private practice that does the work others get from people: a room, a ritual, a discipline performed daily and not discussed. Interrupting it is more costly than it looks, and the person will usually absorb the interruption politely rather than explain why it mattered. Asking what the practice is for tends to produce an answer they have never had to give.

The soft aspects (trine or sextile)
With a trine or a sextile, solitude and connection coexist. The person retreats when they need to and returns without drama, and those close to them learn not to read it as withdrawal. The learning takes a while and holds once it happens. A partner who understands this early gets a far more present person than one who keeps testing whether the door is really open, and the difference shows up within the first year.
The hard aspects (square or opposition)
Square or opposition, wanting company and wanting none pull against each other. Intimacy is sought and then found unbearable at close range, or the retreat extends until it is loneliness rather than restoration. A fixed, visible boundary works better than an improvised one, because it lets the other person stop guessing. The improvised version fails because it is read as a mood, and moods invite negotiation in a way that a stated arrangement does not.
The conjunction
Conjunct, the inner life is enclosed. Such people are self-sufficient emotionally to a degree that puzzles their families, and are entirely comfortable with it. Attempts to draw them out are experienced as intrusions rather than as kindness, which is worth knowing before trying. What looks like coldness from outside is usually contentment, and the person is generally puzzled that anyone thinks it needs remedying at all.
Reading it in a chart
The orb settles how strongly this shows: a contact within a degree is a defining feature of a chart, one at the edge of the orb is a colouring. The signs the two planets occupy change the manner, the houses change the arena, and a third planet touching either of them can change the reading entirely.
