The Moon reaches for what settles it and the South Node is exactly that, already to hand. The soft aspects (trine or sextile)
With a trine or a sextile the inheritance nourishes. Old attachments are kept without being clung to, and the person can draw on family or a long friendship for steadiness while still moving. The comfort funds the growth rather than replacing it, which is the whole difference between this configuration and the harder version of it. Neither half has to be argued for, which is unusual in a nodal contact.
The hard aspects (square or opposition)
A square or an opposition sets the retreat against the road. Homesickness arrives at the precise moment something new might take, and the pull backward is dressed as loyalty.
