Moon in aspect to Mercury
The Moon holds instinct, memory and the shape of a person's needs. Mercury handles perception, language and the sorting of information. Where they connect, feeling and thought are in constant traffic: moods get talked about, ideas carry emotional weight, and the memory stores tone as reliably as content. These charts think out loud, or need to write things down before knowing what they contain. Intuition and analysis are hard to separate, which is an advantage in any work involving people and a complication when detachment is required. Speech tends to reflect the mood of the hour fairly transparently.

The soft aspects (trine or sextile)
A trine or a sextile gives fluent access between the emotional and the verbal. Feelings can be named while they are happening, which makes for good counsel, good teaching and comfortable conversation. Learning is absorbed through interest rather than effort. The limitation is small: an ease of explanation that occasionally substitutes for actually sitting with the feeling being explained.
The hard aspects (square or opposition)
Square or opposed, the two argue. What is felt resists being put into words, or the words arrive so quickly that they outrun the feeling and misrepresent it. Rumination is common, as is saying the thing while it is still too hot. The friction produces unusual eventual precision about inner states, since the person has had to work out a vocabulary rather than inherit one.
The conjunction
Conjunct, thinking and feeling operate as a single faculty. Impressions are registered and interpreted in the same motion, memory is excellent for anything that mattered, and objectivity about personal matters is genuinely difficult. Nervous restlessness follows emotional weather. This is a natural writer's contact, particularly for material drawn from life, and it does better with a listener than in isolation.
Reading it in a chart
The orb settles how strongly this shows: a contact within a degree is a defining feature of a chart, one at the edge of the orb is a colouring. The signs the two planets occupy change the manner, the houses change the arena, and a third planet touching either of them can change the reading entirely.
