Moon in aspect to Chiron
The Moon is what settles a person and what they reach for without deciding to. Chiron on it puts the injury at the level of comfort rather than of identity, which makes it early, pre-verbal and hard to argue with. Care is often the exact place things went wrong, so being looked after can feel unsafe while looking after others feels entirely natural. Family history tends to be involved, and the pattern usually predates memory. What is inherited here is rarely a single event; it is a household's way of handling need, absorbed before there was any language to question it with.

The soft aspects (trine or sextile)
With a trine or a sextile the tenderness works as an instrument. Moods carry information about other people, and comfort is offered accurately and without fuss. What can go unnoticed is that the same accuracy is rarely turned homeward; the person soothes a room and goes to bed unsoothed. The asymmetry is not martyrdom, and telling them so is unhelpful — it is simply that the receiving half was never practised, and it has to be learned as deliberately as anything else.
The hard aspects (square or opposition)
A square or an opposition makes ordinary reassurance land wrong. Kindness is suspected, closeness raises the guard, and the reflex is to withdraw and manage alone. It eases when someone stays through the withdrawal rather than reading it as rejection, which teaches the nervous system something new. The teaching is slow and largely wordless, and it is undone quickly by anyone who takes the retreat personally, which is why the relationships that shift this are usually the patient ones rather than the intense ones.
The conjunction
Conjunct, feeling and hurt arrive together and cannot easily be told apart. Emotional intelligence is high and self-protection is higher. These are often the people others confide in, who have nowhere obvious to take their own version of it. The mother, or the person who occupied that role, is central to the story either by what she gave or by what she could not, and the account the person tells about her tends to change substantially somewhere in their thirties.
Reading it in a chart
The orb settles how strongly this shows: a contact within a degree is a defining feature of a chart, one at the edge of the orb is a colouring. The signs the two planets occupy change the manner, the houses change the arena, and a third planet touching either of them can change the reading entirely.
