Mercury in aspect to Uranus
Uranus is sudden, original and impatient with received wisdom. Contacting Mercury it electrifies the intellect. Thinking is fast, intuitive and given to jumping several steps at once, often arriving at a correct answer before the working is available. Interest gravitates toward systems, technology, mathematics and anything not yet standardised. Opinions are formed independently and stated without much regard for who will be inconvenienced. The nervous system runs quick and needs discharge; insomnia and mental restlessness are common. Boredom is the real enemy, and a mind of this type will manufacture disruption rather than endure a dull hour.

The soft aspects (trine or sextile)
A trine or a sextile gives inventiveness that other people can follow. Insight arrives suddenly and turns out to be usable, technical aptitude is high, and the person is comfortable in fields that keep changing shape. Collaboration goes well because the originality is offered rather than defended. Since the mental speed is never contested, patience with slower processes may simply never be developed.
The hard aspects (square or opposition)
The square and the opposition give brilliance with poor brakes. Conclusions outrun evidence, opinions are held with a contrarian edge, and the person may argue a position mainly because the room assumed the opposite. Concentration comes in bursts. Worked with over time, this becomes genuine independent judgement, and the same restlessness that scatters the mind early is what keeps it fresh much later.
The conjunction
Conjunct, mind and invention are one faculty. Perception is quick to the point of impatience, memory is selective, and the interesting problem gets total attention while the routine one gets none. Talent for technology, reform and any unmapped subject is marked. The nervous energy is considerable and requires an outlet; without one it turns into agitation and a mind that will not stop talking to itself.
