Mars in aspect to Vesta
Mars supplies drive and Vesta narrows where it may go. The result is a person capable of sustained, disciplined effort in one direction and largely uninterested in any other. Training, practice and craft all reward it. Desire is frequently channelled into the work rather than into people, which the person may present as a choice and may not have made consciously — the channel was there first, and the explanation was assembled afterwards. Where the object of the discipline is worth it, this is one of the most quietly effective configurations available.

The soft aspects (trine or sextile)
Trine or sextile, discipline and drive cooperate. The person works hard at one thing for years without burning out, because the focus is restorative rather than forced. The daily practice is where the energy comes from, not where it goes. They are rarely the most gifted person in the room and are frequently the one who is still improving at fifty.
The hard aspects (square or opposition)
A square or an opposition makes the channel too narrow for the pressure. Frustration builds and comes out sideways, or appetite is suppressed until it is unmanageable. A second outlet, deliberately maintained, prevents most of it, and it works better if it is physical and unrelated to the main work. The second outlet has to be genuinely enjoyed rather than useful, which this configuration finds difficult to justify and needs to do anyway.
The conjunction
Conjunct, will and dedication are one. It produces athletes, craftsmen and anyone whose work requires doing the same difficult thing every day without an audience. Motivation is not a subject they find interesting, since it has never been the obstacle. Ask them how they stay disciplined and the question will not quite make sense to them, which is itself the answer.
Reading it in a chart
The orb settles how strongly this shows: a contact within a degree is a defining feature of a chart, one at the edge of the orb is a colouring. The signs the two planets occupy change the manner, the houses change the arena, and a third planet touching either of them can change the reading entirely.
