Mars in aspect to Saturn
Mars wants to move now; Saturn asks what it will cost and how long it will take. Their contact regulates effort. Energy is applied deliberately, endurance is high, and the person is capable of sustained work under conditions that would exhaust a more spontaneous temperament. Craft, engineering, athletics and any discipline with a long training period suit the pair. Anger is controlled and rarely wasted. The friction is in the timing: action can be delayed past its moment, and frustration accumulates where effort meets obstruction repeatedly. Persistence is the pairing's most reliable feature.

The soft aspects (trine or sextile)
A trine or a sextile gives disciplined effort without much strain. Work is steady, difficult tasks are completed because the person can tolerate the unrewarding middle, and physical training produces results through consistency. Anger is measured. The limitation is that a work ethic this dependable seldom questions itself, and rest may be treated as something to be justified rather than simply taken.
The hard aspects (square or opposition)
Square or opposed, effort meets resistance as a matter of course. Ambition is checked by circumstance, frustration builds where action is blocked, and there is a period of doing considerably more work than the visible results account for. This configuration is where staying power is manufactured. What is achieved under it tends to be solid, and the early sense of pushing against everything eases as competence accumulates.
The conjunction
Conjunct, drive takes Saturn's form: controlled, deliberate, aimed at something that will take years. The capacity for hard and unglamorous work is exceptional. Anger is held rather than expressed, so it needs a deliberate outlet or it settles in the body. Ambition is real and quiet. The placement tends to be underestimated early and to be the last one standing considerably later.
