Chiron and Pallas · understanding what hurt
Chiron in aspect to Pallas
Chiron marks the injury and Pallas works out how it functions. The pairing produces people who have thoroughly analysed their own damage — often brilliantly, often as an alternative to feeling it. The understanding is genuine and transferable, which is why they become so useful to others in the same position. It also gives them an unusually good defence against anyone suggesting they do something about it, since they can generally explain the situation better than the person suggesting can. That defence is unusually effective, since the explanation is generally correct.
What each body brings

The soft aspects (trine or sextile)
Trine or sextile, the analysis genuinely helps. The person can explain the mechanism of a hurt to someone still inside it, which is frequently the thing that lets them move. Naming a pattern accurately does more for most people than sympathy does. A mechanism, described accurately, gives somebody something to act on rather than something to feel.
The hard aspects (square or opposition)
Square or opposition, comprehension substitutes for repair. Every element is understood and nothing changes, and the understanding is offered as evidence that work is being done. Something must be done rather than seen, and it will feel crude next to the quality of the analysis, which is not an argument against doing it. Doing rather than seeing is the entire prescription and it is resisted with real ingenuity.
The conjunction
Conjunct, the wound is the subject of study. It makes excellent clinicians and researchers, and people who can describe their own condition with precision from a considerable distance. The precision is real; the distance is the part that eventually has to be closed. Closing the distance requires somebody else's presence and cannot be done as further study.
Reading it in a chart
The orb settles how strongly this shows: a contact within a degree is a defining feature of a chart, one at the edge of the orb is a colouring. The signs the two planets occupy change the manner, the houses change the arena, and a third planet touching either of them can change the reading entirely.
