Venus in the second house
Venus in the second house loves what can be held. Money, beautiful objects, good food and material comfort matter genuinely, and there is often real talent for earning through art, design, luxury or the pleasing of other people. Generosity and acquisition sit side by side. Values are aesthetic as much as moral: the person wants a life that looks and feels right. Possession can shade into attachment. The requirement of the placement is a set of values that would survive a poorer year, so worth is not stored entirely in things.

Which sign holds it
Under whole-sign houses the rising sign settles every other house at once. If you know your Ascendant, this is the sign your second house holds and the planet that rules it.

Reading it in context
A keynote is a starting point, not a verdict. What Venus actually does in your second house depends on its sign, its aspects, its dignity, and whether it is in sect. Two people with the same placement and different charts around it live it differently.
