Jupiter in the first house
Jupiter in the first house colours the body and the presentation. Manner tends to be open, expansive and easy to like; people expect generosity from this person before they have any evidence for it, and are usually not disappointed. The physical build often broadens with age, and appetite in general is healthy. Optimism functions as a working assumption rather than a considered position, which carries the person through a good deal. Self-belief can outrun capability. The balance to be found is between confidence and accuracy, so that what gets promised in the room can be delivered afterwards.

Which sign holds it
Under whole-sign houses the rising sign settles every other house at once. If you know your Ascendant, this is the sign your first house holds and the planet that rules it.

Quadrant systems such as Placidus cut the houses by the angles instead, so a planet near a cusp can land in a different house from the whole-sign answer. The chart page shows both.
Reading it in context
A keynote is a starting point, not a verdict. What Jupiter actually does in your first house depends on its sign, its aspects, its dignity, and whether it is in sect. Two people with the same placement and different charts around it live it differently.
